We are surrounded by small dirt roads with dry stone walls here called "Tratturi", the quiet and harmony here are tangible in every stone and at every corner it is a pleasure to walk or cycle on late summer afternoons in the gentle countryside of the Valley of Itria.
THE CAR IS ESSENTIAL not only for getting to Trullo Trilli
but also to visit the beauties of this corner of Puglia.
The Itria Valley is a portion of central Puglia between the metropolitan city of Bari and the provinces of Brindisi and Taranto.
This area is also called the Valle dei Trulli and includes cities such as
Alberobello, Cisternino, Ceglie Messapica, Ostuni, Martina Franca and partly Noci.I
Its territory coincides with the southern part of the Murge plateau:
Strictly speaking it is the karst depression that extends between the towns of
Locorotondo, Cisternino and Martina Franca.
The main peculiarities of the valley are the Trulli, typical and exclusive cone-shaped stone houses, the Masserie and the rural landscape in general characterized by the high use of local stone used to build dry stone walls and by the bright red soil, typical of southern Puglia.
